CCSTOYS MORTAL MIND: A Tragedy Right Out of the Box! Masou Kishin Cybaster (Possession Ver.) - Incredibly High Accuracy!

This is my first die-cast toy from the CCSTOYS MORTAL MIND series. I never thought that with my very first purchase, such luck would befall me. I opened it with great anticipation, only to discover... the chest piece was completely broken! That's right, broken!

I can accept paint scratches on die-cast toys as long as they aren't too egregious (like deep scratches or dents). But for a part to be broken right out of the box, during shipping, before I even started assembling or handling it—that's unacceptable!!!

Despite this, I pushed through my melancholy and completed the entire unboxing video. I initially didn't want to do a studio photoshoot because seeing the broken part was quite disheartening. I had seen other collectors complain about paint scratches on this figure, but I hadn't seen any reports of broken parts—at least, I hadn't. I must be really lucky. Nevertheless, filled with nostalgia and passion, I went ahead with a simple studio shoot.

It's all a tragedy. However, I must say that this Cybaster (Possession Ver.) is, in my opinion, the most game-accurate version available on the market today. It sacrifices some articulation for a more imposing appearance and a transformation feature, which is an acceptable trade-off.

The effect parts are abundant and well-equipped. Although the only weapon is the Discutter, the details and paint application are full of sincerity. The main body itself has substantial weight with plenty of metal parts. However, due to the two large thrusters on the back, it requires skillful positioning to stand without the support stand, otherwise it will easily fall backward.

The light-up display base also features two switchable lighting effects: a breathing mode and a steady-on mode.

The details and paintwork on the two High Familiars are also meticulously done. Besides the fine paint job, they also have some articulation. This entire Cybaster (Possession Ver.) set is a massive dose of childhood nostalgia, mainly because its accuracy is just so incredibly high. Given the quality of the MORTAL MIND series, I wouldn't be surprised if they suddenly announced a Neo Granzon next.

There's not much to criticize about the figure itself. While there are some paint scratches, they are within an acceptable range. The only real disappointment is discovering the broken chest piece right upon opening... it's truly heartbreaking for it to be broken before I even got to play with it. The fact that I've mentioned it several times in this review shows just how much it bothers me~~ Below is the super tragic unboxing for everyone to see.

▼【A Super Tragic Unboxing】Masou Kishin Cybaster (Possession Ver.) CCSTOYS MORTAL MIND Series in 4K

▼Let's start with a photo of the broken part to set the mood.

▼Front of the shipping box.

▼The top-left corner is printed with the "Super Robot Wars OG" logo.

▼CCSTOYS MORTAL MIND Series Cybaster (Possession Ver.).

▼The bottom features a magic circle.

▼The side has some text descriptions.

▼After lifting the lid, you see a beautiful art separator. The gold foil lettering in the bottom-left corner immediately caught my eye.

▼Close-up of the separator.

▼You can see the "Super Robot Wars OG" logo more clearly on the separator.

▼MORTAL MIND Series.

▼Anyone who has built Kotobukiya's Super Robot Wars model kits should be familiar with this gold foil "SRW OG" logo.

▼The back of the separator features a black-and-white illustration of Cybaster (Possession Ver.).

▼Full-color instruction manual.

▼Four boxes of parts besides the main body. The two on the left are mainly effect parts, while the two on the right are assembly parts.

▼Two High Familiars, a bunch of effect parts, and the shoulder components.

▼The other two boxes of parts.

▼The tragically broken main body makes its appearance. I suspect that during factory assembly, the worker didn't place the body fully into the tray, causing the transparent cover to press down too hard on it. Moreover, the transparent cover lacks a sufficiently large raised area to protect that specific part.

▼The legs are incredibly accurate. The overall proportions are just right. The three front claws on the feet are articulated, and the rear claw can be pressed down to improve contact with the ground.

▼Cybaster's classic feet.

▼Close-up of the torso. The main color of the body has a silver-black sheen. Even the details of the two small yellow dots on the collar are perfectly executed.

▼The connections between the arms and body, as well as the elbows and wrists, use high-mass metal joints, allowing for secure rotation.

▼Close-up of the back. In addition to the main body's paint job, the details on various parts, including the back of the knees and the soles of the feet, are meticulously done.

▼Close-up of the shoulder. There are actually a lot of scratches on the shoulder, but they are hard to see due to the reflection from the studio lights. However, this is within my acceptable range.

▼The three layered plates on the shoulder can be extended outward, and the blue effect parts will raise up along with them.

▼I absolutely love this thruster unit. Besides being iconic, I love the three-layered unfolding armor plates. The paint job on the entire thruster is flawless. Even the internal mechanical details are sculpted for visual appeal, especially the nozzle that extends from the very bottom.

▼The left and right sides are the backpack thrusters, the center holds the Discutter, and below are the armor pieces for the left and right forearms.

▼The quality of the paint finish on the Discutter is impeccable.

▼The detailed sculpting in the middle of the blade is also meticulously done.

▼The gold paint is beautiful. The green details on both sides of the hilt have no paint bleed. The outermost tips are sharp, so be careful when handling.

▼Thrusters in their deployed state. The extra part in the picture is the battery box and light-up effect unit for the top.

▼The light-up unit attaches to the thruster via magnets.

▼You don't need a screwdriver for the light-up unit; just pull out the battery cover at the front.

▼This is the detailed paintwork on the nozzle I was talking about. The color scheme is perfect, full of detail.

▼The thruster in its deployed form. Look at the design of this thruster and the metal connecting pins; it's no wonder it becomes back-heavy when attached.

▼The forearm armor is also a light-up component.

▼To use the light-up feature, you must first pull out the battery insulator tab to complete the circuit.

▼You have to pull out the entire armor section before you can remove the small piece at the bottom to reveal the light-up effect.

▼I assembled everything with a heavy heart. The thought of it being broken right out of the box is so depressing, especially since the break is in such an obvious place that it's hard to ignore.

▼Arm assembly complete.

▼Top-down close-up view.

▼The back is just incredibly cool~ Full of detail and exudes a powerful aura.

▼Two pairs of sword-holding hands at different angles, and one pair of fully articulated hands. The joints on the articulated hands are a bit tight, so be extra careful when handling them to avoid potential breakage.

▼Gripping hands.

▼Fully articulated hands.

▼The End.

That concludes this unboxing review, and I hope you all enjoyed it. Putting aside the fact that I got a lemon with a broken part, the figure as a whole is practically flawless. Whether it's the detailed paintwork or the color scheme of the main body, I have no complaints. The overall weight, especially after attaching the thrusters, feels incredibly solid. Attaching the thrusters does cause balance issues, but this can be overcome by adjusting the feet for better ground contact to achieve a stable stance. However, using the display stand is still recommended. Although it lacks super-high articulation, posing it on the stand with the effect parts, light-up features, and High Familiars can make the Cybaster (Possession Ver.) look even more magnificent. It's just overflowing with nostalgia. I have to say it again: I truly believe this is the most game-accurate Cybaster (Possession Ver.) on the market, with excellent overall proportions and sculpting.

▼Next up are some simple studio photos to share with everyone. By the way, since the video and the photoshoot were done separately, there are no transformation photos in the shoot. This was mainly because I was too heartbroken, so please bear with me.
